Good Morning FairVoting Friends,

We had a good time at the Duke last night talking politics. Thank you to provincial candidates, Catherine Fife, NDP Kitchener – Waterloo, David Weber, Green Kitchener Conestoga & David Schumm, Libertarian Kitchener-Conestoga for taking time out of their busy campaign schedules to talk about what’s important in the provincial election with us. It was terrific to have them join us last night.

Participants at Pub Night

Pub Night L-R: Bob Jonkman, David Arthur, Jean, David Weber (Green Party), Sharon Sommerville, Catherine Fife (NDP), Dale Fife.

Our AGM is scheduled for Thursday, June 19th at 7pm at Ricky’s Restaurant, 751 Victoria Street in Kitchener (corner of Westmount) Map in the private dining room. If you would like to participate at any level in the movement toward a fair voting system: joining the board, volunteering at festival tables, giving presentations, organizing events or simply to hear what we have been doing in the past year to establish an electoral system that represents all Canadian please come to the AGM on June 19th.

The festival season begins soon & our first one is the KW Multi-Cultural Festival, June 21st & 22nd. We can always use extra help at the festival so if you can spare a couple of hours that weekend, please consider volunteering. Please feel free to contact me anytime about volunteering.

We are in the early stages of planning another Politics on the Patio event. Politics on the Patio is an opportunity to bring voters & Waterloo Region candidates together in an informal setting to discuss how we can best meet the challenges that face Ontario. We will let you know when the date & location are in place.

There is a lot going on, we hope to see you soon!

Best regards,

Do you have some politics you’ve got to get off your chest? Come to The Duke of Wellington Pub at 33 Erb Street West in Waterloo, Ontario Map on Thursday, 22 May 2014 at 7:00pm iCal

All the candidates for the Ontario election are invited too, so you’ll have a chance to bend the ear of your local politician or future politician.

And, of course, we’ll tell them that Electoral Reform is the foundational issue for this election — proportional representation will make all our votes count!

Disagree? Let’s talk over a beverage, bangers and mash!

Fair Vote Canada AGM Registration is OPEN!

Good Morning Everyone,

The FVC AGM is June 6 & 7th in Ottawa. Shannon Adshade is interested in going & suggested that if anyone else is considering attending we should think about car pooling. The AGM & conference is worthwhile. I went two years ago in Toronto and found it very helpful, great for connecting with people, generating ideas & fun. This year is the kick -off for the pre-election campaign so there will be a lot going on. Inexpensive accommodation is available at UO which is where the AGM is being held, so it is a very nice opportunity.

If any one is interested, please let Shannon & I know!

And, don’t forget we have a pub night coming up on May 22nd, 7pm at the Duke of Wellington. Personally, I am looking forward to a beer.

Have a great day,
Sharon
