Today, we interviewed the Co-Chapter of Fair Vote Canada Bob Jonkman. He educated us about the issues surrounding politics and also educated us about the importance of going to a Proportionate Representation system.

Please check out www.fairvote.ca and sign the petition there to get your voices heard for a Proportionate Representation system. One can also visit the local chapter at http://www.fairvotewrc.ca/.

Fair Vote Canada has the following community consultations scheduled for this year and the dates are as follows:

August 23  –         6:30 p.m.
August 30  –         6:30 p.m.
September 13 – 6:30 p.m.
September 20 – 6:30 pm.
September 27 – 6:30 p.m.
October 4          – 6:30 p.m.

Tonight, we host our second Community Dialogue at the Queen Street Commons Cafe in Kitchener. The discussion will be written up and the notes will be submitted to the electoral reform committee.

If you can’t make it to tonight’s discussion, we will be at the Queen Street Commons every Tuesday at 6:30 from now until October. It is an informal way to make sure the government knows that we want PR. See you at 6:30!

The Electoral Reform Committee wants to hear from Canadians, we have an amazing opportunity to let our government know that we want Proportional Representation and why.

Community Dialogues

People conferencing at a tableThe Electoral Reform Committee is asking Canadians to participate in community dialogues and submit reports to them on what is important in an electoral system and why.

Starting on Tuesday, 9 August 2016 at 6:30pm and every Tuesday until October we will be at the Queen Street Commons (43 Queen Street South) in Kitchener Map to facilitate conversations about electoral reform. We will talk together, record the conversation and submit it to the government. Join us for a coffee and a chat.

PR In The Backyard

On Friday, 12 August 2016 at 7:00pm join Catherine Fife, MPP for Waterloo to learn more about Proportional Representation. There will be a presentation, comments from Catherine, discussion groups and a Q & A. Learn, discuss and debate in a pleasant, informal backyard setting.
