The Fair Vote Canada Waterloo Region Chapter and Leadnow will be hosting a series of “Community Dialogues”.

People conferencing at a tableThe Special Committee on Electoral Reform is inviting the public to comment on electoral reform via “community dialogues”. Basically, we get together, have a conversation, record the conversation and submit the record to the committee. Fair Vote Waterloo will work with Leadnow to host dialogues in Waterloo Region. The dialogues will be held every Tuesday night at 6:30 starting 9 August 2016 at the Queen Street Commons Cafe. The committee will accept submissions until 7 October 2016 so we will run them until 4 October.

The government has a tool kit which is straight forward and helpful in the key area of how to submit. There were numerous questions provided to start the conversation, we selected four that were the most appropriate to get our message across.

Josh Morel and Sharon Sommerville will host the first dialogue on 9 August 2016, Sylvie Spraakman will take the next one. We should have a good idea of how they work by then. We will need a variety of folks to help facilitate over the next two months. Between Fair Vote volunteers and those from Leadnow, we should be in pretty good shape.
